The  Church of  Purpose

The  Mission and Ministry of Parchester First Baptist Church is five fold:

 Evangelism:

We seek to fulfill the Great Commission, as found in Matthew 28:18-20, by bringing unbelievers to the saving knowledge of God’s grace through His son Christ.

Discipleship:

It is through discipleship that new believers in Christ move from membership to discipleship, to becoming disciplers themselves.  Discipleship does not come by osmosis, but through the study of God’s Word, the aid of the Holy Spirit and by being “FAT” (Faithful, Available, and Teachable)

 Prayer:

"Prayer is the chief agency and activity whereby men align themselves with God's purpose. Prayer does not consist in battering the walls of heaven for personal benefits or the success of our plans. Rather it is the committing of ourselves for the carrying out of His purpose. It is a telephone call to headquarters for order. It is not bending God's will to ours , but our will to God's. In prayer, we tap vast reservoirs of spiritual power whereby God can find fuller entrance into the hearts of men."

-G. Ashton Oldham

We should be of the mind of Paul who says; We ought to always "pray without ceasing." (1 Thessalonians 5:17)

 Praise:

Praise is horizontal, from one to another.  We who are in Christ share what God has done and is doing in our lives and exhort others to do likewise. It is good to know that when we praise God for our unmerited blessings, “He inhabits the praises of His people.”

 Worship:

Worship is vertical, between you and God. It is through worship that believers express their gratitude to God for who He is and His many gifts—salvation, grace, mercy, unfailing love, watch care, comfort, joy, and peace that surpasses all human understanding. Essentially, worship as with praise is what we should endeavor to do.

With our lips we sing,

“Lord, we worship you for who you are and you are good!”
